Is America ready for a black or female President?
It's February of 2008. Despite the many blogs I read, I chose to finally start my own. Less than a half a dozen entries into it and here I am hitting main stream politics. Who would've "thunk" it? (I love that word ... thunk). So, let me get right to it ...
Judging by Dubya's first-term Florida fiasco, and the country's choice to elect him once again (thanks a lot, Ohio), I'm inclined to think we are not ready to have a black or a female President. Couple that with some serious ignorance, bias, bigotry and prejudices and it's a matter of time before something pops.
Perhaps I'm being too judgmental of our nation's people. Still, I hope we do get either Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama. I think it will be refreshing for our nation, our economy and the overall mentality that puts us in a position to even post something like this.
The likely scenario, I predict, is that Clinton will win; and will appoint Obama as Vice President. Perhaps it's the conspiracy theorist in me, and the disappointed faith in our people, that also thinks that should Obama become President he will likely be assassinated. I know it's an awful thought; and I hope that it never happens. Unfortunately, I'm thinking of all the ignorant, and full of prejudice, individuals that are out there.
As a Muslim, I see them on a regular basis. They stand out. They miserably try to hide it until they utter the next thing. And there are a lot of them! To make matters worse, I think that it could happen to either one. There is enough stupidity and power out there. Personally, I think they both are bad candidates for our Nation. But that has to do with their stance on certain topics, and not their race, sex, religion or anything else. Yet, of all the candidates, I'm OK with either one of them.
As an American, I want someone to fix the economy, resolve the Social Security issue and even work on Health Care. As a Muslim American, I want our Presidents to limit our Foreign Policy, especially in the Middle East, like never before. Our "contribution" to Israel has and will always bring us nothing good. To give to them more than we give the rest of the World combined is unexplainable. As a Muslim American, I want that money to stay here ... right here in our Nation. Take care of our poor. Take care of our health system. Take care of our Social Security, for God's sake. And giving to any other country in the Middle East should also be down right banned. It doesn't take much to see that the area is full of corruption. The money rarely, and in fractions if it ever does, gets to the needy. Instead, they're seeing our tax money in the form of bullets, deprivation, etc. In other words, our tax money is working against us in most of our Middle Eastern Foreign Policy affairs (if not all).
Neither candidate, nor any other, is willing to step up and lead this Nation to what it needs —Solutions on the inside. And that, my dear readers, has nothing to do with the color of this candidate's skin or whether the President is a he or she. They are both driven by their own needs/agendas, and not by the needy. I need my President, our President, to lookout for our needs first —This Nation's needs.

Well I am not sure they were ready when it happened at the time but it sure did happen. I think had I had the chance I would have voted for Hilary Clinton. I wish she would have won democratic party.

I completely agree with the above comment, the internet is without a doubt growing into the most important medium of communication across the globe and its due to sites like this that ideas are spreading so quickly.
