Top Sites I Visit

Web sites about any topic can be found with ease.  And with web search technologies only getting better, niche sites are becoming ever-more popular.  Here are the top sites I visit on a regulars basis (excluding personal finance sites):

  • www.google.com/ig  —The customized homepage of Google.  Here, I receive all my RSS feeds.  I have one for each area of interest, one for a World clock, one shows my GCal, one that shows my Gmail, etc.
  • calendar.google.com  —While I have Outlook both at home and at work, I found myself over the course of 2 years not using either for personal/non-work use.  Instead, I rely 100% on Google Calendar (GCal).  I don't even know where to start talking about this.  Well, you can set up a different calendar for each main category/persona.  For example, I have one for myself (the main calendar).  My wife shares hers with me, and I share mine with her.  I can see both at the same time, in the same view.  They're basically color-coded.  We have one for the household bills; which I shared with my wife, of course ... so we both view it.  I have a public calendar, which any one can add to use as their own (announcing certain events).  The list goes on and on.  You can use GCal instead of evite.com.  It simply does everything you need in a simpler fashion, I believe.
  • mail.yahoo.com  —I have email accounts galore.  With each domain I own, I usually have not less than 2 email accounts.  I also have a Gmail and a Hotmail email accounts.  I found myself using one for casual emails, IM, online purchases, etc. (my Yahoo! account); one for miscellaneous seldom usage like my XBox Live registration and MSN-IM (my hotmail account); and one for personal/family & close friends uses (my Gmail).  All in all, however, I find myself always drifting towards Yahoo! Mail.  I think it has a superior user experience than all others.  It's simply very easy to navigate and understand.  Although I must admit, Gmail is taking a big chunk of my time as well.  Especially since I can access it as a POP or IMAP via Outlook at home, and download/clean up what's on it.  I'd need Yahoo! Plus to do it with my Yahoo! Mail account.
  • dice.com  —Simply put, it's my job-hunting site of choice.  I may hit others, but this is almost always my first one.
  • islam-qa.com  —A very good Islamic site, in both Arabic and English (other languages as well).  The site is about answering people's questions by an Islamic Scholar who can give a Fatwa (a jurisprudence judgment call, more or less).  The Arabic, if you can read it, is a much better version.
  • 4islam.com  —Quite a comprehensive site about Islam in English.  Although the site seems to be always under construction, it has quite a good collection of material to read.  The latest design is a major improvement over the last, but still needs some work (missing material/sections).
  • Wikipedia  —Many argue that this site is full of errors.  I say, bring a me a site with this much information that's free of them.  Generally speaking, this site has offered quite accurate information thus far.  It is truly a free electronic encyclopedia about anything and everything.  I enjoy reading on this site.
  • islamway.com  —An Arabic site offering Khutbahs (Arabic for Sermons) by topic, speaker, etc.  An absolute must in every Muslim's Bookmarks/Favorites.  The site does have an English version, but the core of what it offers will be in Arabic; therefore, the English offering is a bit skimmish.
There are many more site, which I frequent.  I simply wanted to provide a glimpse of the few I cherish.  What are yours?  Please provide a good explanation of the site, and why you like it.  Please keep it clean, or I will remove it.
